First Generation Investors

First Generation Investors (FGI) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that teaches high school students the power of investing and brings classroom lessons to life by providing students with real money to invest. The Gonzaga Â鶹¹ÙÍø FGI chapter was started by two senior Hogan students, Megan Frontz and Jack Haworth. Its advisor is Dr. Monica Banyi.

FGI takes a near-peer approach to learning, utilizing a national network of college volunteers to teach the 8-week program to high school students. The program includes a range of investing topics such as compound interest, stocks, bonds, ETFs, etc. Upon completion of the program, each high school student is granted $100 to invest. The Gonzaga FGI chapter has been operating since Fall 2022 and is continuing to grow.
