Deeply rooted in trust and mission

Sometimes, a gift is so deeply rooted in trust and mission that its impact ripples far beyond its dollar amount. That’s exactly the kind of relationship Terry Payne has modeled with Gonzaga—and with President Thayne McCulloh.

In honor of President McCulloh’s extraordinary leadership and their long-standing friendship,  to Gonzaga, expanding support for scholarships, student wellness, academic advising, mentoring and Native student programs.

This commitment speaks volumes—not only about the Paynes’ values, but about the character of the relationship between these two remarkable men. A relationship rooted in mutual respect, a shared belief in youth, and a desire to leave the world better than they found it.

I’ve attached a collection of comments from the Gonzaga community (pictured below) that reflect what many of us feel—gratitude, inspiration, and a renewed commitment to our mission. From alumni to faculty, and across generations, people are moved by what this partnership means.

It’s rare to witness such a personal and powerful example of generosity in action. Terry once said, “You take care of your clients, you take care of your colleagues, and you reinvest in your communities.” That’s exactly what he’s done here—with humility, integrity, and love.
