鶹 Statement on Response to Shooting at Sikh Temple
Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District issued the following statement about the District’s support for students, staff and families after the shooting that took place at the Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society on Sunday.
“We stand in solidarity with our Sikh community and condemn the violence that disrupted an event taking place at a house of worship,” said 鶹 Board President Chinua Rhodes. “We are very concerned for our students who may be experiencing trauma as a result of this violence.”

鶹 Statement on Racist Material Distributed at Kit Carson International Academy
Sacramento, CA – The District is aware of racist material distributed at Kit Carson International Academy today and wants all of our families to know this matter is being handled with the utmost seriousness. Sac City Unified strongly condemns the use of racist language or material and has taken swift disciplinary action against the two students involved. The district is also providing support for students and staff who may have experienced trauma or harm as a result.

Sac City Unified to Open Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten for 2023-24 Starting Tuesday, February 21
Sacramento City Unified has expanded its Transitional Kindergarten to 33 locations
Sacramento, CA – Sacramento City Unified announced today that applications will open for the 2023-2024 Transitional Kindergarten program starting Tuesday, February 21 at 8:00am. Students who turn five September 2, 2023 through April 2, 2024 are eligible to apply. Sacramento City Unified will expand its transitional kindergarten to 33 locations for the 2023-2024 school year.
Phoebe A. Hearst Elementary Recognized as 2023 California Distinguished School
Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento City Unified School District received word this week that Phoebe A. Hearst Elementary School has been recognized as a 2023 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education. This year, the distinction was awarded to only 356 elementary schools out of the 5,824 statewide.

Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento City Unified School District Board voted today to approve the annual employee performance evaluation for Superintendent Jorge Aguilar, resulting in a satisfactory rating for the 2021-22 school year, and issued the following statement:
