Since I joined the District in 2017, I have repeatedly communicated about our precarious fiscal situation. Our District is operating under a structural deficit, which means our expenses exceed revenue.

Board Update: LCAP Parent Advisory Committee Appointments Announced
First Meeting September 24 at 5:30 p.m.

Board members and Superintendent Aguilar appointed 16 members to the LCAP Parent Advisory Committee on September 20, 2018. The initial meeting is Monday, September 24, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at the Serna Center Washington Room. Meetings are open to the public. Below are the names of the newly appointed members of the LCAP PAC:

Area 1: Catherine Horiuchi and Alex Zucco

Area 2: Susannah Cohen and LaShanya Breazell

Area 3: Christine Shelby and Andrew Maalouf

Area 4: Cecile Nunley and Elden Hernandez

To Eliminate Budget Deficit And Protect Funding For Students, Sac City Unified Board of Education and Superintendent Call On Employees To Make “Shared Sacrificesâ€

The Sacramento City Unified School District announced in a video statement on Wednesday that it has managed to find millions in cost savings, with most cuts being made away from the classroom. However, Superintendent Aguilar and Board President Jessie Ryan warned that these cuts will not be enough to entirely address the district’s structural deficit. Both leaders called on district employees to rise to the occasion and make shared sacrifices to eliminate the structural budget deficit. .

Sac City Schools Are Keeping Students Indoors Due To Poor Air Quality

UPDATED 11/14/18 @ 8:05 P.M. - Our schools will remain open Thursday, November 15th. We understand that many of our families count on us to provide students with a safe and supervised environment to go to during the day. We take this responsibility very seriously and before making the decision to keep our schools open, we did check on the air quality conditions at our schools and consulted with leadership at the Sacramento Air Quality Management District.
