Areas of expertise: maternal/newborn and pediatric nursing with a research focus on perinatal substance use.

Dr. Brumley is a Lecturer with the Department of Nursing. Her areas of interest include perinatal nursing, perinatal substance use, and nursing education. Her clinical background includes pediatric and neonatal nursing. Dr. Brumley began her nursing career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps, where she cared for service members and their families at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and provided humanitarian relief on the hospital ship USNS Mercy. After being released from active duty, she completed her Master's degree in Nursing Education from Walden Â鶹¹ÙÍø and taught undergraduate nursing at Texas A&M Â鶹¹ÙÍø-Corpus Christi and Washington State Â鶹¹ÙÍø. She earned her Ph.D. in Nursing from Washington State Â鶹¹ÙÍø in 2024 with a research focus in perinatal substance use.
